The Walnut Creek Intermediate School (WCI) is located in the heart of the bustling Northern California City of Walnut Creek. The California Gold Ribbon School has a Visual and Performing Arts Program. The town of Walnut Creek is situated at the crossroads of the Contra County, adjacent to the San Francisco city and provides agricultural leisure on more than 2500 acres. Creek Walnut is a big retail and market hub.
Walnut Creek Intermediate (WCI) relies on a strong foundation of support for parents, community participation and a strong commitment to providing our students with the best possible education. WCI is the only high school in the Walnut Creek School District with an estimated student population of about 3,500 and serving 1,100 students in grades 6, 7, 8. Students attend school every day for seven hours, with the Jazz Band providing a sixth hour. Two statistical, two scientific and a three-phase, three-phase English and Social Studies center are sixth students. These also are included in the scanning wheel or belt.
Seven students are enrolled for a two-period core, one science, math and two optional classes. Eighth students will be inscrites in one language class, social studies, mathematics and science, as well as two electives. Both students have one physical education duration. The Intermediate Walnut Creek serves 1,142 grade 6-8 students. In the 2016–17 academic year, the percentage of students learning mathematical skills is 67% (which is higher than the California average of 38%). In 2016-17, the percentage of students who learn reading / language arts skills is 72% (which is higher than the average in California by 48%). The 24-1 teacher-student ratio is higher than 23-1 in California. Minority enrolment (maximum Asian and Hispanic) is 39 percent of the student body, less than the overall State of California of 76%.
