You don't want to forget your camera to take photos when you go to this place! A large bottle of water is a must, but it is totally worth the effort. It’s better to hike on a cool day, but this hike is really worth it any time. This park is great if you’re looking for a little adventure, but you only want to keep the excitement to a day. It can get too warm and then it will be uncomfortable to hike, so make sure to take a look at the weather forecast before you head out. This place is really great for just taking a few friends, and enjoying a wide range of activities. Some of the best times I have had here, just by hanging out in nature, having deep conversations, and just enjoying relaxing together.
I'm part of Diablo Foothills ' pilgrim protection team and it's like being a small individual in an enormous land that really connects you to nature. Nature is something that is disappearing fast, and it is something people are not in-tune with enough. People need nature in order to be the best they can be. They need to get out of the city and get out of their heads. They need to be able to just be in nature, realize it is bigger than them, and just breathe. I love working on the protection team because it is something that I am very passionate about, and I love feeling like am actavly making a difference. This park in particular it's good for hiking, with not as many steep paths and there are streams, picnic areas, a lawn and amazing views! The cliffs of Pine Canyon are closed to the public in the Peregrine breeding season, 1 Feb to 31 July. But for the remainder of the year, it is open to your enjoyment.
This is a wonderful place. It allows dogs off their leashes, and it has trails that you can just get lost and explore in. During the winter when the hills are green, it is my favorite time to visit. I love to take my dog here so he can meet new people, but he also loves to run up and down the trails and explore with me. A great little getaway just for a day!
